New Forest Textile Group

We are a friendly group who enjoy all textiles work, including embroidery. We meet at Brockenhurst Village Hall, Highwood Road, SO42 7RY on the third Saturday on the month from 10am-3.30pm.

The programme includes stitch and chat days, where we bring our own projects, as well as tutor-led workshops and in-house workshops.

The meetings also include a sales table where any member can brings things to sell, either for club funds or for themselves, a table of things made at the workshops for us all to admire, sometimes a raffle or lucky dip bag and, of course, tea/coffee and biscuits! Please bring your own packed lunch and mug.

Display Table

We have some really good workshops but don't always get things finished on the day so at the next meeting there is an opportunity to display your work on the workshop table. It is always interesting to see what others have made, especially when we were all on the same workshop but have come up with different things. If you want photos of your finished item(s) can be emailed to the webmaster to be loaded up to the workshop gallery pages.

You are also welcome to display other work on this table, it does not have to have been made at one of our workshops!

Sales Table

Each meeting has a Sales Table where you can put anything sewing related, including books and magazines, that you would like sell or pass on. Please label items with the price (or donations), and who the money goes to ( your name or if it is for charity or group funds).

History

On 17th April 1999 the inaugural meeting of the New Forest Branch of the West Country Embroiderers took place in the Jack Hargreaves room at Lyndhurst Museum. Approximately twenty interested ladies were present and the group was formed. It has been run as a friendly and successful group ever since. In 2014 it was decided to run the group independently so the name changed to the New Forest Textile Group.
